CHESTER MENDHAM GIRLS REC BASKETBALL PROGRAM OVERVIEW

ELIGIBILITY:

Rec Basketball program is open to girls going into 5th - 8th grade for this coming school year.  All players must be residents of Chester Borough or Chester Township, Mendham Boro or Mendham Township (or attend school in Chester or Mendham). Registration fees for REC are $225 per child for 2024-25 season.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:  

The Rec Program is designed to incorporate a stronger level of competition for players, in addition to building individual basketball skills.  Scoreboards and referees are use for each game, and wins and loses are posted in the standings section of our league website.

TEAM ASSIGNMENTS

Players are sorted onto teams of either 5th/6th graders or 7th/8th graders.  Teams will generally have 7 - 10 players each.  Teams are sorted according to individual player skill levels, to ensure a fair and equitable distribution of advanced and developing players.

Because of the emphasis on fair team distribution, the league may not be able to accommodate team placement requests.

For all games, teams are subject to minimum play requirements. All players must play at least half of the game based on 4 half quarter intervals. Coaches use a player matrix to assist in determining play times.

SEASON DURATION AND TIME COMMITMENTS

The Rec Season will run from January through March.  Practices will start in December.  Teams may meet up to three times per week for either 2 practices and 1 game, or 1 practice and 2 games each week.  All teams will play at least 10 regular season games (weather permitting). Following the close of the regular season, all teams will participate in a post-season bracket-style tournament.
